About

Hi, I’m Sandy!

I entered the service side of the beauty world in 2017, but I’ve been a skincare junkie since I was a pre-teen. I’ve had a client perspective for most of my life and I use that perspective in the studio to provide an experience my clients appreciate and enjoy. I wanted to create a space where my clients and I can share our mutual love for beauty. I love hearing about your faves and I can’t wait to have the opportunity to share mine. In the skincare profession, we are forever students. One of the joys of this job is to go out and learn new things and further my education in order to deliver the best to you. I want you to feel comfortable and confident in my knowledge and abilities. At the end of the day, this is for you. The importance of self-care is so evident now more than ever. I hope that I can help you see value in that.

My Story

A big fat “THANK YOU” from a complete stranger is how I got here.  Let me tell you about it!

My whole adult life I’ve been stuck behind a desk. I thought I would be happy in the mundane life of an office worker because that’s what you’re supposed to do as a grown-up. I liked structure, routine, and stability. A REAL job entailed walking into an office in business casual attire, chatting to co-workers at the water cooler, type type typing on a keyboard, then clocking out at 5pm. That was the life I always envisioned for myself.

However, something didn’t feel right. I tried switching things up by changing locations, industries, and job titles.  I even packed my bags and moved to London to get my MBA. For my internship, I decided to really change things up and work for a skincare company, in marketing. I knew I would LOVE it because, hello, skincare!  I was wrong. Turns out, an office job is still an office job even if you do get to play with fun skincare products all day. Battling with the Ricoh is part of office life, even in other countries (cue “Damn it Feels Good to Be a Gangsta”). At that point, I accepted my fate, I would live and die at a desk clutching a mouse with my right hand and a lukewarm coffee in my left.

One day, my esthetician recommended I get a lash lift as I was taking a break from lash extensions.  Naturally, I didn’t know what that was so I Googled…. Basically, a lash lift is a modern-day lash perm.  During my Google research, I kept stumbling upon a one-day certification course. I don’t know what possessed me to do it, but I signed up for it! I had no business being there. I wasn’t licensed, I didn’t work with clients, I had never touched anyone’s face like that before, especially the eyeballs!

Part of the course was to do a full lash lift on 2 models…….

Enter STRANGER, my first model. A girl whose name I forgot one second after she told me. A girl who had no idea this was my first time working on a “client”. A girl who didn’t know she was going to change my life forever. This was one of the most nerve-wracking moments of my life. Not only did I have to do this new thing I just learned 5 minutes ago, but I also had to pretend to keep my cool so the model wouldn’t freak out with me. I carefully did each step while looking at my notes and shaking like a leaf. By the end, it worked! When I handed her a mirror, her face lit up! She was turning her head from side to side to get all the angles. Then she looked straight into my soul and said “Thank You”. And I felt it. It was genuine.

If any of you work in an office environment, you know, a “thank you” is hard to come by. Most days are filled with critiques, complaints, and criticisms. My friend expressed this perfectly, in an office, “no news is good news”. When no one has commented on you or your work all day, that’s considered a good day. Expecting praise or even a simple thank you is way too greedy. However, now that I experienced a true “thank you”, I wanted more. I realized a job could be much more fulfilling than just a paycheck. The moment I got home from the certification course, I signed up for beauty school, and began my new journey as an esthetician at the ripe old age of 36.

Even though I am now in my 40s and years deep into the esthetics world, I still have not forgotten the impact of that “thank you”. I will never take for granted the “thank you’s” I receive now on a daily basis. It truly is the fuel that motivates me to do my best for every person that walks through my door.
